The Embarrassment of Parents

Parents love to embarrass their kids. I’m not sure I was ever particularly embarrassed by my parents, though I worry I do embarrass them sometimes.

I saw these two photos on the NatGeo photo blog I follow. They were posted consecutively. The penguin one in particular is my favorite, and the lion one looks like the face of a frustrated parent with too many kids. Click to enbiggen!

In the Sound of Music, Julie Andrews sings:

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

And in a time when all students are spending their time buried in books and toppled by final exams and projects, it’s good to take a break and remember some of our favorite things. I have exams mid-week and I’m thoroughly stressed by them. So- here are some of my favorite things!

Wednesday Photo & Link Depository: Creative Writing

So, I’m a particular fan of creative writing. In particular: lists. I have a number of lists and other fun things today! Photo (oops I mean comic) at the end.

• A meme: list of street signs. CANNOT BE UNSEEN. 
• The Worst American Presidents. Yeah, this guy basically says they all sucked. enjoy.
• A quirky list about things that seem normal in NYC afters spending 2.89 years there. I don’t live in NYC, but this was still fun.
• A list of questions to ask yourself before sending an email. Oh, if I could send this to some people….
• Answers (only) about bikes. I just bought a bike! This is fun.
• 10 kitchen tips.  If you don’t cook, start now. I disagree with the onion one, partially because I love my big purple onions.
