PSA: Lakes are Dangerous

I think the next time I go to Lake Calhoun I’ll just keep my time on the beach. Maybe.

This story just came out from MPR saying we should worry about cyanobacteria blooms (not what they called it. Lesson 1 in being a science student is no news source will give you as much information as you want. Keep wikipedia open. ) These guys tend to bloom in shallow, warm, nutrient (NRV!) lakes. So stay away from those lakes (/girls).

This story also reminded me of the story of when a boy got bit by a muskie at Calhoun. WTF.

OK, in reality, I’m not a ‘land lubber’, like boyfriend likes to call himself, so I’ll probably be in the water anyway.
